I have been trying to make positive changes in my health since the birth of my daughter in 2005. As most of you know,
change is not easy. I used to watch the show 30 Days by Morgan Spurlock, an award winning documentary filmmaker. That was the catalyst behind the idea that trying
something for thirty days would be great motivation. I have already quit smoking, lost nearly 100 pounds, and workout regularly, but still have some weight to lose and some bad habits to break.
Keeping my motivation intact is one of the biggest issues I have to deal with. This idea keeps it fresh in my mind, and helps create healthier habits.
This is my own take on Morgan's 30 Day idea to try something random, something new and healthy, and report to you daily about it. Enjoy!

30 Days - Day Four
Well.. we went shopping last nite and ate at carabbas. Man... i really miss soda. I got the feeling in my stomach like I did when Iquit smoking..
I bought everyone lunch at moe's today. I got the normal joey burrito with only rice steak salsa and cilantro. I only let myself eat 10 or so chips because thatis where the calories will sneak up on ya. Anyway, I went to get nevs soda and without thinking about it put it to my lips and the cold rush of fizzy goodness hit my lips like an arctic swim. I realized what the hell I almost accidentally did and came very close to dropping it. I wont let that happen again! |

30 Days Day Three
This is the third day of no sodas and it is alot harder than i thought. I used to drink sweet tea so much it was like water. Now I cant hardly stand drinking it all the time. It realy tastes like sugar water to me. The deal is, although sugar is a processed food, i think it is alot safer than all the chemicals in diet soda. I am going to try drinking half and half tea from now on... you know half sweet and half unsweetened. Sugar only has 16 calories per teaspoon so i dont think it has enough to hinder weight losss. At least not as much as diet soda did.

30 Days - Day Two
I drank unsweetened tea today. This is a travesty in the south!! It was ok, much better than water. I had a buddy once that swore by it. Anyway, last nite I had the worst night and my head hurt and I was just in a piss poor mood... I didn't know why. I had jogged earlier and went pretty far for me so that usually keeps me happy all night. Around 8 pm Stacie called and asked did I want a coffee from starbucks when she came home from work at 9. I said yes!!! It hit me. I hadn't had any caffeine almost all day. I felt like a vampire about to make his first kill.. like a man who has been in the desert for a week with no water and is given a gallon of water. When she gave me the coffee it went straight to gourd. It was a rush I can't explain.. it was like warm water gushing through all my veins. It was so good it made me dizzy for a moment. I didn't realize just how addicted to caffeine I am. I never said I was quitting it, but I think this will naturally just ween me off a little as a consequence of the project. Good. I need it.

30 Days - Day One
Alrighty, this is m first day of the "no soda" 30 Day challenge. I always felt like there was something addictive about sodas but not just necessarily the caffeine. I could easily drink 6 sodas in a day. Diet of course, but soda nonetheless. It has been written many times that diet soda can actually hinder weight loss. We will see. I am not lifting any weights for this 30 days either and am replacing my weight time with extra cardio.. yay! Thats like saying extra torture. I dont mind being outside riding or jogging, it goes by fast. But being in that gym is so damn boring and I hav eto blast my ipod to keep from listening the greatest hits of the 70's that they blast there! I love that gym but if I hade one complaint, thats it... not even the music, just the volume.

30 Days - New Challenge
Here is my challenge for this month. For the next 30 Days I will not drink a drop of soda. Diet or otherwise. THis is for November 20th 2008 til dec 20th 2008. I will resume drinking soda on the 21st if I am so inclined, but maybe not. Now I am not saying Im quitting caffeine or anything like that, just no soda. I have a feeling the artificial sweeteners and other crap are giving me the heebie jeebies, so I'm going to see how I feel after 30 days of no soda. Breaking the addiction wont be easy, but stay tuned. I will still be putting my exercise log below just cause I do. Read it or ignore its ok with me.
